In this article, we will discuss these questions and their answers from the series of SEO teaching trainings. So first we check the title meta tag very quickly. Next, we will discuss the do’s and don’ts of writing a title in SEO. We will also teach you how to change the title of the browser page in WordPress and the SEO title in the Yoast plugin, and check the errors and warnings of this plugin when writing the title.
What is a Title Tag?
The title tag is the phrase that appears in the results page (SERP) when you search on Google. For example, if you Google the phrase “comprehensive training of Google Analytics”, you will see the results of one of the pages of SEO teaching, for which we used the title “The most comprehensive training course of Google Analytics – 30 hours of training videos”. Now if you click on this title, you will see the title meta tag in the browser toolbar. Finally, if you want to share this article on social networks, the title of the article or the same title tag is used to introduce the article to others.
A very important point is to use keywords in the SEO title that will make your page appear in the relevant search results. We will talk more about this issue later. Enough about the importance of the title tag in SEO, according to moz, the title tag is the second most important factor in internal SEO. If you want to learn more about the structure of the title tag, be sure to read the article Title tag in HTML from the comprehensive HTML tutorial collection of SEO teaching.
Is the title tag the same as the H1 tag?
One of the most common mistakes in SEO is that most people think the title and H1 tags are the same. However, this is not the case and the two are very different. As we said, page title is a phrase that appears in Google results, not inside your page; While the H1 tag is quite the opposite and is only visible inside the page and usually at the top of the page or article. Of course, SEO experts often use the same phrase for both. This is because when a user selects your page from a search engine result, he or she will first encounter the same phrase.
Although this is a good reason and you can use this solution in your projects; But it is better to be a little creative and change H1 a bit. This way you can use new and different keywords in the most important heading of your page. On the other hand, when the user selects your title from the Google results and enters your page, it means that he likes your original ad and headline, and now you have the opportunity to fascinate him more than before with a new and slightly different phrase. Or write your own article. So the title and H1 tags do not always have to be exactly the same. Of course, you must use the original keyword in both of them.
For example, in the same page related to the Google Analytics tutorial that I talked about, the H1 page is “30 hours of specialized Google Analytics tutorial videos from basic to professional and 100 examples and practical tips” which is completely different from the title meta tag. . Here we have more details (than the Title tag) about this course. This technique allows the user to get more information about our text or product at a glance.
Some Important Warnings About Writing SEO Title
Character Limits: First we will talk about the maximum number of characters in the title tag. One of the indicators that makes writing SEO title for websites more interesting and of course more difficult is the number of letters that you have to observe. If you plan to write headlines for the press or write advertising headlines, you do not face such a limitation and you can write the title as long as you want. But each search engine only displays a limited number of site title letters. About Google search engine, this value is equivalent to 600 pixels, which is about 55 to 60 characters.

Using duplicate titles: Another common mistake in writing title tags in SEO is that we choose duplicate SEO titles for several pages of our site. Selecting a duplicate title is one of the things that is less considered in site optimization. But if you are worried now that several pages of your site have the same title, you can easily check this issue using the Screaming Frog tool. This tool shows you pages from a website that have duplicate titles. In the article introducing the best SEO tools, we talked about the features and applications of Screaming Frog and 8 other useful tools in full. I suggest you read this article. We also have Screaming Frog tutorials in articles that can be very interesting for you.
Do not use the title tag: One of the less common mistakes is not to write a title for the pages of the site. In this case, the probability of displaying that page in search results is much lower and Google itself uses a suggested title for that page and displays it to the user, which may not be very significant and will reduce the click-through rate or the CTR of the page.
Practical title writing techniques in SEO
In order for your article or page to get a better ranking in search engines, you need to write attractive and effective headlines. This will increase your CTR (and possibly sales) and get more users to your site. But writing a suitable and attractive title in SEO requires observing special principles, which we will discuss in the following.
1. Correct use of keywords: Another difference between writing an SEO title for a site and writing a headline for newspapers and magazines is that an SEO expert must use relevant and appropriate keyword (s). This is because before you can be seen by users and your title is clicked, you have to show search engines like Google that your page is related to the phrase that the user searched for. To find this link, one of the first things that Google pays attention to is your title tag or SEO title. So you must use a keyword in writing the title.
Of course, Google is now so smart that it recognizes synonymous words. For example, if you search for “comprehensive SEO training” or “comprehensive SEO learning”, the results are almost the same. But our main keyword here is “SEO”. So we substitute similar words and search for the terms “comprehensive site optimization training” or “comprehensive SEO training”. And we see that the results are almost similar to previous searches and only the ranking of sites has changed a little, which of course has an effect on increasing their click-through rate. But the interesting thing is that almost half of the sites that are on the first page of results, did not use the terms site optimization and SEO. So we conclude that Google recognizes synonymous words.
For example, the comprehensive SEO course of SEO teaching, entitled “Comprehensive SEO training course in 9 voices – free SEO training 2020 + exam” with every 4 searches that I gave an example, will be displayed on the first page. The reason is the attractive and appropriate title and of course the quality content of this course (it is true that the title of SEO is very important, but more important than producing quality content; do not forget that content is king 😉).
Well, so far we have come to the conclusion that we should use the keyword. Now let’s look at how to use the keyword in the SEO title. First of all, you need to specify the main keyword you want. For example, we have a Google Analytics training course at SEO teaching Academy. The main keyword for the title of this page is “Search Console Tutorial Video”. It’s better to have this keyword in the first half of the title.
After that, you should use longer and more attractive keywords according to the goals and features of your product, page or article to attract the user’s attention and increase the click-through rate of your page. The title that we have considered for this page is “15 hours of Search Console video tutorial Search Console Goal + Update 99”.
As you can see, in addition to giving the main keyword in the first half of the title, we made it more attractive by using words like Update 99 and 15 hours of tutorial video, and actually made a longer keyword.
2. Features and Distinctions: Once you’ve seen the keywords you want on the first page of Google results and among the best, it’s time to ask yourself this important question: Why should users click on my site title? Remember that whenever there are many options offered, the customer tries to choose the best and most useful option. So if you are looking to increase your CTR, you should try to differentiate yourself from other competitors in the title tag or SEO title that you write. Express any feature that you feel sets you apart from your competitors and do not be afraid. Of course, here you have to follow a basic principle called honesty and strongly avoid writing unrealistic headlines. Because it simply destroys users’ trust in your site.
For example, we know that the main feature of our Google Analytics course is comprehensiveness. Because no other Persian course in this field is comparable to this course. (If you find a better and more comprehensive training in this field, you will receive a prize of 2 million Tomans from SEO teaching 🙂) For this reason, in the title tag, we used the phrase the most comprehensive course and stated the main feature of our product. This is the reason why this course has more than 50 students.
So you try to express the best features of your page or article clearly in the attractive title you write to get more clicks. Remember that clear and concise writing of titles works wonders. Research conducted by hubspot on 3.3 million headlines has revealed that the titles that specify the type of content in brackets ([photo], [infographic],
, [interview] and…) 38% more clicks Compared to other headlines. So you also use this technique and try to express the main features in the simplest possible way when writing the headline.
It is better to use Brandton’s name at the end of the title tag. You may ask why? First, surveys show that most users pay more attention to the first 2-3 words at the end of each headline than the middle words. So if your brand name is at the end of the title, it will be better for the audience. Secondly, if your title is longer than the standard and the end part is not displayed, it is better to delete your brand name than to delete part of the keywords or creative title you wrote. Because in this case (delete keywords) your headline may seem meaningless.
Of course, as I mentioned, using this title technique for useful sites that are well known and trusted brands. For example, among online stores, the site of Digi Kala can use this solution a lot. Because as soon as the user sees the name of DJ Kala in the title, he will probably be encouraged to click on the link. Or, for example, SEO teaching has such a situation in the field of SEO and SEO training courses and site design and can use its brand name to help increase CTR.
SEO title in WordPress and Yoast SEO and check the errors of Yoast plugin in writing the title
Sometimes we are asked about learning how to change the title or title of a browser page in WordPress. So in the last part of the article, we will talk about what SEO title is in WordPress and how to write SEO title in Just. We teach you how to write a page title in WordPress with the SEO Yoast plugin, which is one of the best WordPress SEO plugins.
The image below is related to the famous and useful plug-in Youast or Just. If you have installed the Just plugin, you will see this section at the bottom of all posts and tabs on your site. By clicking the edit snippet button, you can write the SEO title in the SEO section.
Unfortunately, this plugin also has its drawbacks and does not display the number of characters written in the title field correctly, and sometimes we wrote more than 60 characters in the SEO title field, but this plugin does not warn us. In any case, in the following, we will examine the errors related to writing the title tag that this plugin is sensitive to.
We suggest that before writing the SEO title, at the top of this plugin and in the box related to the focal keyword (focused), specify the main keyword of that article or page so that this plugin can have more analysis about your SEO title. For example, we used the phrase “title tag” here. Here are some common bugs in this plugin.
1. Your SEO title is too short. Use a longer title.
We see this error when the title tag is short, and this is one of the biggest errors. Because if we write up to about 53 characters, we will still see this message. While the title of SEO with 53 letters is quite standard and appropriate. So this error can not be taken too seriously. In this case, the colored bar below the text of the title is orange.
2. The SEO title is more than visible. Try to be shorter.
This error occurs when the title tag is too long. Of course, the next problem of the Just SEO plugin is that it shows this problem a little late. This means that when the length of our title is more than 80 characters, the color bar below the text of the title will be red and this error will be displayed in the SEO Analysis tab of the plugin. Maybe now you understand better why in the middle of this article we introduced 2 tools to check the length of the SEO title. Unfortunately, writing the title of SEO in Youast is difficult, and this is due to the inconsistency of the plugin with the Persian language.
To solve these 2 problems, we suggest using the SEO teaching Tools tool. A very important feature of this tool is that it shows you the number of characters as you type. In addition, other features such as keyword rank checking tool, Alexa rank checking tool and. Have been created in this tool for your use.
3. Not all words in the “…… ..” keyword are SEO titles. For a better SEO result, write the keyword exactly at the beginning of the SEO title.
This error is related to the condition that we do not write the main keyword or, as Yovas puts it, the focal keyword in the SEO title. Of course, instead of the three dots I wrote, it just shows you the keyword you want. Unlike the previous 2 errors, this error is significant and you should try to optimize the SEO title. Obviously, this issue cannot be analyzed if you have not set a focal keyword.
4. No exact match found. Try to use the keyword in the SEO title and at the beginning.
If your focal keyword is long (3 words or more) and you did not spell some words exactly in the SEO title, you will see this error. For example, if I set the focal keyword “title tag in SEO” and do not use one of these words in the title, or use them separately (discontinuously) in the title, I will get this error. But if the focal keyword we used is 2 words and we do not use one of the words in the SEO title, we will see a high error.
5. Focus keyword matching appears exactly in the SEO title, but not at the beginning. For best results, move it to the beginning of the SEO title.
Now if we write the focal keyword exactly in the title tag, but it is not in the first half of the title, we will get this error. To solve this problem, we must use the main keyword in the first half of the SEO title.
You may find it very difficult to write an SEO title in the SEO section. But this is not the case, to know what solution you should use and not to be confused, I suggest you listen to the following audio file:
